What Causes the Speaker to Produce a Current Sound?

Jul 23, 2024
To understand the current sound, it's important to first identify what it is. The current sound is caused by electromagnetic interference from the AC power supply and is characterized by a continuous noise similar to a "buzzing" or "hissing" sound. In many instances, this noise may be masked by music or videos, but in quiet environments or on high-fidelity audio devices, it can become quite noticeable.

If the power supply quality of your speaker is poor, or if the power cord is aging, it can lead to a current sound. The solution to this issue is to try swapping out the electrical outlet or using a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to stabilize the power. Studies have shown that utilizing a UPS can reduce current sounds by up to 75%.

Another potential cause of current sound is poor grounding of the speaker. In such cases, it might be beneficial to have a professional inspect your grounding system or consider employing some anti-interference equipment.

Modern electronic devices like mobile phones, televisions, microwave ovens, and more can generate electromagnetic interference. If your speaker is located near these devices, it might get affected by them. A simple solution to this problem is to relocate the speaker away from these devices.

Moreover, if your audio cable is of subpar quality or not properly connected to your device, it could also result in a current sound. Try replacing the cables or ensuring all connections are secure to rectify this.

Sometimes, certain software or drivers might not be compatible with your speaker, leading to a current sound. To resolve this, updating or reinstalling your software or drivers should do the trick.

If you've tried all the above solutions and the current sound persists, you might want to consider replacing your speaker. After all, higher-quality speakers generally produce less or softer current sounds.
