Printing Full Web Pages with Scroll Bars Made Easy

Jul 28, 2024
Browsing the web, we often encounter instances where printing the entire page becomes necessary. However, when a webpage's content exceeds the width of standard paper, how can you ensure that everything gets printed? Let's explore how to print a full webpage, even when it has a scroll bar, so you can quickly master this skill!

Understanding Scroll Bars

Firstly, grasp the function of scroll bars. Scroll bars are visual tools designed to navigate content that extends beyond the screen's visible area. They allow us to move up, down, or sideways to view different parts of the webpage. When aiming to print a webpage complete with a scroll bar, ensuring the scroll bar is operational is key.

Setting Print Options

Open the webpage you wish to print. Click on the "Settings" button located in your browser's upper right corner (often represented by three vertical dots) and select "Print."

In the Print Settings dialog box, you can adjust parameters like paper size and margins. These settings will impact your printout, so tailor them according to your preferences.

Ensure the "Zoom" option is set to "None" to prevent any unwanted reduction or enlargement of the printed page.

Enable "Background Image" and "Image" options to include all elements from the webpage in your printout, such as background images and graphics.

Adjusting the Scroll Bar Placement

Within the Print Settings dialog box, locate and click on "More Settings."

In the "More Settings" window, find the "Layout" tab and select the "Custom" option.

In the "Customize" section, locate the "Scale" option and set it to "Fit paper width." This setting will automatically adjust the webpage's content to fit the paper's width, eliminating horizontal scroll bars.

Next, locate the "Margins" option and set it to "Minimum." This ensures web content is positioned as close to the page edges as possible, minimizing white space.

Finally, click the "Apply" button. The system will automatically adjust the scroll bar's placement and size. You can preview the printout; if satisfied, proceed by clicking the "Print" button.
